It isn’t easy to accept your imperfections and quirks, but loving yourself through self-care can help. With some introspection and a whole lot of effort, you'll be on the road to accepting yourself and embracing your flaws. When it comes to imperfection in beauty, admiring yourself fully is key.

Natural waves and curly hair can be a nuisance for some, but self-acceptance means loving the "imperfect" bits, too. Don’t be afraid to experiment with your crowning glory and learn to cherish it. It is, after all, one of the biggest assets you have, and it makes you unique.

The Travails of Learning to Love Your Hair

Do you sometimes stare at yourself in the mirror playing with your hair, wondering how to make it look better? Aside from the myth of brushing hair at least 200 strokes a day, there are also several products out there that can ruin your hair. And what about all the travails of upkeep, the tangles and the split ends?

If you have ever wandered through beauty aisles, confused and overwhelmed with all the options available, know that it doesn’t have to be a hassle. You can learn to love and accept your hair with ease.

Your hair is your crowning glory. Learn to love it.

Your Hair is Your Crowning Glory

Your hair frames your gorgeous face and is usually the first thing that demands attention, especially from a distance. When supported with proper products and daily care, your hair can become full of vitality and life.

Aside from visiting your hairstylist regularly, you can also maintain your hair at home. Whether straight, curly, frizzy, dry, or even fried, creating a consistent regimen for your hair has several benefits. Regular maintenance will help you embrace what you view as flaws and may even make accepting yourself and your brand of beauty a lot easier.

You can easily do some tests to see if your hair is healthy

The hair is an accessory organ of the skin. It is composed of columns of tightly packed dead keratinocytes. Depending on your genes and other variables such as the environment and your daily habits, hair can be healthy or dry. Because of these factors, it also comes in various textures and shapes.

To find out if your hair is healthy, pluck one strand from your head. Make sure that the root is still attached to it. Examine the hair follicle at the end of the strand. A bulb shape means your hair is healthy. If the root is flat or broken, your hair may be weak and in need of vitamins and minerals.

Another way is by plucking a few strands from various sides of your head. Start with the left side, then go on to the right side, the front, and the back. Next, drop the hairs you have plucked into a glass of water. If the strands float, they are very healthy. The ones that go down a little are relatively okay, while the damaged ones sink.

This practice can show you which parts of your hair need more care than others. It may also help you realize that, in the grand scheme of things, nobody would really notice if some of your strands aren't in their best shape. Accepting yourself takes work, and you can aspire to it. Always remember that it is normal to be imperfect.
