Glowing skin doesn’t just happen by chance. It takes commitment, the right products, and a whole lot of patience. The new year is a good opportunity to revamp your entire beauty routine and adopt small-but-mighty healthy habits for clear skin. If you’re not sure where to begin, take a look at these skincare resolutions to make you feel more confident in your bare face.

Downsize Your Skincare Collection

Don’t fall into the trap of FOMO. Stick to what you know works best for your skin.

You may be guilty of applying too many active ingredients at different steps of your routine, thinking that more is better. However, overloading your skin with a dizzying number of serums and creams can disrupt its natural balance, leading to irritation and breakouts.

Make decluttering your beauty space part of your skincare resolutions. Focus on what your skin really needs and don’t be swayed by cute packaging or internet trends. A more curated routine not only saves you time and money but also lets each product truly work its magic without interference.

Eat and Drink More for Your Skin

“Drink more water for clear skin” may sound like a bogus beauty tip, but there’s truth in it. If you’re dehydrated on the inside, it’ll show on the outside. Cue dull and dry, flaky patches of skin! So, stay hydrated, bring your tumblers, and limit your alcohol and sweets in your diet. While you’re at it, snack on fruits high in water and vitamins, such as oranges, strawberries, and kiwis.

Get Serious About Your AM Routine

Your morning skincare ritual is not something you want to miss because your skin still needs an extra layer of defense against countless aggressors throughout the day.

You can either start by cleansing your skin with a face wash or spraying a hydrating toner. Then, apply a lightweight serum rich in antioxidants like niasorcinol, which you can find in POND'S Bright Miracle Ultimate Clarity Day Serum. The combined power of niacinamide and e-resorcinol brightens dark spots, boosts hydration, and repairs the skin.

Be More Consistent With SPF

Do you apply and re-apply sunscreen every day without fail? If you can’t answer yes confidently, add daily SPF application to your skincare resolutions. Apply two fingers’ length worth of POND'S UV Bright Sunscreen all over your face and neck 30 minutes before sun exposure. With SPF 50 PA++++ and gluta-niacinamide, it guards your skin from UV rays and helps fade dark spots. Don’t forget to re-apply at least every two hours, even if you’re indoors.

Stop Picking at Your Pimples

You know popping pimples does more harm than good. Leave this habit in the past because there’s another way to treat pimples with minimal damage.

Cleanse the area gently and cover the zit with a pimple patch. If your pimple is deep and painful, compress it with a warm towel for 15 minutes, three times a day. Apply acne treatment with benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid to help your pimple heal.

Try Lymphatic Drainage Massage

At-home lymphatic drainage massage is a cost-free, easy, and relaxing way to de-puff your face.

Think of lymphatic drainage massage as giving your face a workout – stimulating circulation, contouring your features, and brightening your complexion in the process. It’s easy to do by yourself–and completely free. After cleansing your face, apply face oil and use your fingers or a tool (like gua sha or jade roller) to perform the massage. Focus on upward and outward motions to lift and tone your skin.

Clean Everything That Touches Your Face

You’ve got your skincare routine down, but are you paying attention to everything else that comes into contact with your face? Your phone, pillowcase, glasses, makeup brushes, and towel could be sabotaging your skin transformation. Without frequent washing, they become a breeding ground for bacteria.

Clean your phone screen daily with alcohol wipes, swap out your pillowcase at least once a week, and wash your makeup brushes at least once every two weeks. Put these habits down in your skincare resolutions, and your skin will thank you.

Give Your Lips Some Attention

Your pout deserves just as much love as the rest of your face. After all, chapped lips aren’t just uncomfortable, they can throw off your look. You only need three items to care for your lips: a scrub, a hyaluronic acid toner, and a lip balm.

First, exfoliate your lips with a sugar scrub once or twice a week. You may also use a soft-bristled toothbrush to buff away dead skin cells. Next, apply small drops of hyaluronic acid toner to your lips. Once absorbed, follow up with your favorite lip balm or petroleum jelly.

Skincare resolutions don’t have to be big and complicated. They should be about making small, intentional changes that add up to big results over time. As you head into the new year, keep these tips in mind – for your skin’s sake.
